Romans 12:2

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

I came across this verse a few days ago, and I was in awe of its meaning. I have a study bible that brought out some great points of the verse. I didn’t get it at first, I had so many questions, so I went to gotquestions.org and learned so much about this verse that I wanted to share.

This verse talks about “the renewing of our minds,” & I think that this is so important in our Christian walk. Our minds and the way we think, are key to our walk with Christ. Our thinking must be transformed from old, ungodly ways of thinking into new, godly ways of thinking. What we know in our minds to be true forms a conviction in our hearts of that truth, and that conviction in our heart translate into action. The only way to replace the error of the world's thinking is to replace it with God's truth, and the only effective source of God's truth is in His word.

There really is no alternate way or shortcut. There is no special formula for renewing our minds. We must put Gods word in our minds. In John 17:17 it says, “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” We have to pray to God and get in the word and ask Him to help us get rid of our old ways, and transform them to new, and more godly ways.
